Bearsted & Thurnham WI is a friendly and active institute with over 80  members and meets  at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday of the month in our own hall in The Street, Bearsted.

Each month we have an interesting speaker, a competition and also Social time in which we might have a game or quiz

There is a stall for members to sell their items, a raffle, an annual plant stall in May and a twice yearly Book Stall.

A number of events and outings are planned for 2010/11 including a visit to Aylesford Priory and a 3 day trip to Exbury to see the rhododendrons.  In addition to monthly meetings and our own events, members run a stall each year at Bearsted Fayre and support the local Children's Sports a & Activities Day with refreshments.  We also take part in various activities, including District, Federation & National events.

Bursaries are awarded each year enabling two members to go to Denman (the WIs own college) for a two night stay, names for the bursaries are drawn in April.

Members of the Garden Club enjoy visiting gardens, outings and demonstrations, there is a well supported Walking Group and the Lunch Club dines out about every two months.

The Craft Group  meets on Thursday afternoon in the hall and a number of members are enjoying Art Classes.

We now have two Book Groups which meet regularly in other members’ homes, and we have an active Drama Group as well as an enthusiastic Singing Group.

Visitors and new members  are welcome at our meetings -
