Otford Evening

Otford Evening WI is a friendly institute with approx. 51 members.  Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month in the Otford Village Memorial Hall, High Street, Otford starting at 7.30pm and ending soon after 9.30pm.  Our activities include a walking group, three discussion groups (morning, lunchtime and evening) drama, darts, craft, outings, public and local affairs.  We also have a bursary drawn at our birthday meeting for a lucky member to attend a two-night course at Denman College.
We support District and Federation events and in April celebrated our 51st birthday with a three course meal to the accompaniment of harpist Melanie Jones.

We man a cake and plant stall at our village fete on the Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May and several members will be walking in the procession as W.A.G.S (theme is World Cup).  A team of members help with the village’s weekly luncheon club and we provide help with the crèche for the pre-school children of Otford Oast members.

Future speakers  will be telling us about “Life of a Japanese Woman” (June) “Kent in the 19th Century” (July) “Life in the Workhouse” (August) “Perils of a Toastmaster” (Sept) “Curiosities in the City of London” (October) and “Theatre Museums” (November).  If you would like to know more about us ring Eve on 011959.524887 or Joan on 01959.524304 – they will be pleased to help.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our meetings
