Come and meet Diana Warnock, her talk and slides on 'Changes in Fashion as Women's Role Changed in the 20th Century' will delight and inform us.
Ann Shearn is coming to Ditton to show us how to make and use Natural dyeing for wool and fabric, most fascinating to learn about the many knowledgeable ideas given in her talk.
We are pleased to say Dawn Cameron-Dick is going to show us 'One Woman's Quilts', giving an insight on how she creates many fantastic designs.
A chance for you to locate your Institute Page, this was created by members and put into the Federation 75th Anniversary Book, which is on loan for these two days.
Members craftwork, made at workshops held recently, will also be on display for you to admire.
Lots of interesting ideas, things to see and purchase if you wish, and many friends to meet.  Do come along to this event in October, we would like you to apply by sending the application form, which can be found in the West Kent News, giving you further information about our Annual event which we hope you enjoy.

Annual Days 2009

Was held at Ditton Community Centre on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May 2009. We learned about Rag Rug Making with guest speaker Debbie Siniska, who is primarily a textile artist.  Debbie also makes a small range of bead jewellery using glass seed beads and shell buttons, and tiaras with Swarovski crystals.

Our second guest was Mike Jones, the title of his show 'Dissolvent Views' refers to the way each picture fades, or dissolves into the next.  As a keen photographer Mike believes that the sound brings another dimension to the enjoyment of photograph images.  We were shown some of the  historic collection of images from the archives of Maidstone Museum.

In the afternoon Billy Showell who graduated from St. Martin's School of Art with a B.A. in fashion design, but was irresistibly drawn to painting and illustration.  She teaches Botanical Painting in Sevenoaks.  Billy is fascinated by flowers and has long used their forms as her inspiration in her paintings.

all in all, a very enjoyable day.

Around the hall there were craft stalls:-  Barbara Gray - of Clarity Stamp (new to us) with Stamps for you to purchase. She was demonstrating at her table with a good range of items for you to see; Sam Beresford brought her lovely silk threads; Sue Wood had hand made miniatures and beadwork; and  fabric on the bring and buy tables where we bought our bargains.  A return visit from the Scrapbook Sisters with their wonderful range of paper craft materials who also gave us a demonstration after the lunch break.  There was lots to see and do.  Thank you Art & Craft Sub-Committee members for another super Annual Day.

If you have never attended a Day School before why not try one of our Art & Craft days?
